This 4-day introduction to Manado and the Minahasa Highlands is perfect for first-time visitors, combining wildlife, culture, and nature in the “Land of Smiling People.”
Day 1: Arrive and travel to Tangkoko Batuangus Nature Reserve for a guided afternoon trek to spot the endemic Black Crested Macaque, Tarsier, hornbills, and other wildlife. After dinner near Tangkoko, overnight either at a resort in Tomohon (Day Tour option) or at a simple homestay in Tangkoko (Overnight option).
Day 2: Explore the Minahasa Highlands, visiting Pagoda Ekayana in Kakaskasen, Tomohon’s traditional market, Woloan village for knock-down wooden houses, lunch by Lake Tondano, Pulutan pottery village, and a Bentenan weaving workshop. Overnight at your resort.
Day 3: Hike to the crater rim of Mount Mahawu for panoramic views of Bunaken, Manado Tua, and Manado Bay, then continue to Lake Linow, the famous color-changing sulfur lake. Overnight at the resort.
Day 4: Breakfast and transfer to the airport for departure.
